Niles Pride Rainbow Walk & Rally – SCA Demo

WHAT: Come join the Shire of Ravenslake, the Barony of Ayreton, and the Barony of Carraig Ban at the Niles Pride Rainbow Walk & Rally in the north-side Chicago suburb of Niles! All SCA folk are welcome to participate in their favorite garb – especially rainbows – in the neighborhood walk, or at the park with A&S displays and music. (There will be a shade fly, wind/weather permitting, and casual bocce.)
IMPORTANT: NO WEAPONS ARE PERMITTED AT THIS EVENT (EVEN FOR DISPLAY). Armor for display is fine.

Schedule:
10:15 – 10:45am: Set up
11:00am: Speakers (including our very own Sata Prescott!)
11:30: Walk starts. There’s no specific order – everyone who wants to will walk behind the leader and local Korean drummers. The walk is about 8/10 mile.
12:30ish: Walkers return, food and activities begin (free sandwiches, snow-cones, and other booths)
2:00pm: Demo ends.
Important Info:
Parking: Free parking on neighborhood streets (may be limited, carpooling is suggested).
Chairs: Not provided, bring your own.
Weather: If it rains, we’re still on. Thunderstorms (threat of lightning) may cancel or end activities early.
Bathrooms and Shelter: The nearest bathrooms, AC, and shelter are in the H-Mart across the street.
Food: Sandwich-type food and snow-cones will be donated by a local restaurant. Additional food options nearby can be found at https://shorturl.at/rI3nK
Other: There will be children. Plan your garb accordingly (cover the bits that need covering). There may be a police presence as politicians may show up and/or speak. If there are any issues/questions related to SCA matters, see THL Siobhan. If, heaven forbid, there are any hecklers, hasslers, counterprotestors, or agitators, find THL Siobhan, THL Hilla, or neighborhood (modern) event staff.
